£35million invested in Scottish offshore renewables
A £35million fund to support the manufacture of next generation offshore wind technology in Scotland has been unveiled by First Minister Alex Salmond.

Speaking at the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference in Edinburgh yesterday, Salmond said: "We [Scotland] are determined to remain among the most attractive locations for manufacturing, including the prototype testing that follows the R&D phase.
"That is why I am announcing a new £35m fund to support production of full scale prototypes of the next generation offshore wind turbines that will power the renewables revolution, deliver our 2020 vision and reindustrialise Scotland."
The £35million Prototype Offshore Wind Energy Renewables Support (POWERS) fund aims to leverage up to a further £80m of private investment and bring the production of full scale prototypes to Scottish sites.
Salmond's announcement follows the news that Edinburgh based wave energy firm, Aquamarine Power, has secured £7m in funding to take its Oyster wave power technology to commercialisation.
