BAE to provide communications networks for US Navy destroyers
BAE Systems has won a $37million contract to design, install and test onboard radio communications and network capability for the US Navy's new DDG 113 and DDG 114 destroyers.
Under the one year contract, the defence giant will provide a range of services, including systems engineering, production integration, logistics and configuration management.
"This award continues our strong legacy of support to the Navy's DDG programme," said Mark Keeler, vp and general manager for Land and Electronic Systems at BAE Systems Support Solutions. "Our employees have a long and proud history of providing critical communications systems."
The installed technology, according to Keeler, will include multi-spectrum radio sets, antenna systems and baseband switching, as well as data-link modems and message distribution services.
