Dutch team triumphs in World Solar Challenge
Delft University's Nuon team has claimed victory in the 2013 World Solar Challenge.
Its solar powered vehicle, Nuna, crossed the finish line in Adelaide, Australia at 10.03am local time.
The five-day, 3021km journey took just over 33 hours to complete - making the average speed an impressive 57mph.
Coming in a close second was Team Tokai from Tokai University in Japan, which ran into difficulty after the final checkpoint.
The Cambridge University Eco Racing car, Resolution, was expected to take part in the challenge, but crashed last Tuesday.
The team hoped to fix it before the start, but was forced to withdraw.
