EADS is flying harmonised PLM
EADS has now deployed its PTC Windchill based PHENIXCHANGE enterprise PLM system on programmes across the group, including: Airbus, Eurocopter, Astrium, and Defence and Security.
The PHENIXCHANGE (PLM Harmonisation Enhanced Integration and eXcellence) solution is to be used in all future programmes in all EADS divisions. The programme was initiated in 2007 and is described as a 'heterogeneous system' which has to be able to work with Dassault's Catia CAD tool, Enovia PDM platform and Delmia. The choice was the result of a nine month intensive benchmark involving 90 PLM experts from all divisions of EADS.
"On behalf of the PHENIX programme team, we are pleased to announce that we have fulfilled a commitment to the group by providing a modular enterprise PLM platform," said Jean-Yves Mondon, head of the PHENIX program at EADS and the newly created PLM Harmonisation Centre. "This showed immediate as well as future value to the group and is mapped to key corporate initiatives at EADS."
According to EADS chief technical officer, Jean Botti, "The entire Group is benefiting tremendously from the creation of a harmonised PLM environment, which leads to cost savings, reduced time-to-market and improved product quality. The harmonised work-flow also improves the communication between the divisions and among each player in world-wide cooperation."
