First fuel cell electric vehicles set for 2017 launch
Car makers Daimler, Ford and Nissan have signed a three way agreement to accelerate the commercialisation of fuel cell electric vehicle technology.
The partners hope to have the world's first affordable, mass market fuel cell electric vehicles ready by 2017.
They plan to develop a common fuel cell stack and fuel cell system that can be used by each company in the launch of highly differentiated, separately branded fuel cell electric vehicles, which produce no CO2 emissions while driving.
In a press release, the company's said that their intention was also to send a message to government and industry about the need to build more hydrogen refuelling stations and infrastructure.
