IED appoints new design ambassador
The Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) has announced the appointment of Eleanor Fosberry to the post of Design Ambassador for 2012/2013.
Fosberry, a graduate from the University of Southampton, will use her role to promote engineering design as a career choice and encourage engineering professionals to pursue professional registration.
She has also been tasked with building on the IED's network of industry and education liaison officers, who provide support to members and prospective members at a local level.
IED chairman David Maffin said: "The IED's Design Ambassador has a key part to play in delivering our primary objectives - to promote excellence in the industry, to support our members and to facilitate the advancement of engineering and product design.
"Through the work that Hutton, and now Fosberry, carry out we have been able to meet with and engage with members and prospective members across the UK in a way that hasn't been possible before."
Fosberry added: "Taking on the role of Design Ambassador is a fantastic opportunity to instil in others my enthusiasm for design. I'm keen to encourage young people to consider engineering as a career option, particularly young women in what is still a male dominated profession."
Fosberry succeeds Blair Hutton, the inaugural holder of the post, who completed his term of office earlier this year.
