Two prominent business leaders have been appointed honorary fellows of the Institution of Engineering Designers.
Sir Anthony Bamford, chairman of engineering giant JCB, and Sir George Cox, former chairman of the Design Council, said they were “honoured and delighted” to be recognised by the IED.
Sir Anthony’s career began with a two-year apprenticeship at Massey Ferguson in France. He has led JCB since 1975.
Sir George qualified as an aerospace engineer before spending most of his career in information technology.
"We were very pleased that two such eminent contributors to engineering and design excellence have accepted the honorary fellowships,” said Libby Brodhurst, the Institution’s chief executive.
