Ipods incorporated into suits
Clothing manufacturer Bagir will use smart fabrics to turn a suit lapel into a five-button panel – allowing users to browse through their iPods
Gentlemen this season will mainly be wearing…iPods.
Eleksen, which develops touch-sensitive smart fabrics, has helped clothing manufacturer Bagir to incorporate an ‘iPod panel’ into a man’s suit.
The suit integrates an ElekTex smart fabric touchpad into the lapel – transforming it into a five-button panel. iPod users can now tuck their device into a pocket, plug it into the suit, and manipulate the controls using the fabric panel.
“The suit enables iPod-lovers to play, pause, skip tracks and adjust the volume from their jacket lapels,” said Offer Gilboa, CEO of Bagir.
Bagir expects to sell its suit – which is machine washable and wrinkle-resistant – for around £149 from November.
“This is proof that wearable technology is moving from its roots in sportwear to the boardroom, and from the slopes to the street,” said Eleksen CEO Robin Shephard.
