When the plans were drawn up for the €1.7million project in April 2014, the local community in Lynow made a unanimous decision to create the solar park on the site of the building that had been abandoned in the 1990s and become an eyesore.
Construction on the 3.2hectare site by Ka-Energy began in May 2015. A total of 6000 solar modules and 30 of Delta’s RPI M50A solar inverters were installed into the system, each with a 50kW output. These inverters were chosen for the project for their durable and robust design, but also because the units are said to feature 98.6% peak efficiency.
The solar park has now been completed and Ka-Energy estimates it is generating 1516MWh of electricity annually, enough to power 400 households in the region. The PV power plant is also said to be saving 1400 tons of CO2 annually, representing the emissions of 750 cars.
