Laser etching technology wins design award
An innovative laser etching technology launched in September has won a prestigious iF Product Design award.
A total of 2486 entries were submitted by 1061 companies from across the globe, from which Kumho won the category for Advanced Studies.
The German iF accolade is conducted by experts around the world, including famous designers and the laser etched tyre, which incorporated the company's logo, was selected as it adhered to the judging criteria of design, technology, degree of innovation and brand value potential.
Roger Jenkins, managing director of Kumho's Birmingham based European Technical Centre, believes that consumers take into account the design of a tyre as well as its performance when making a purchase. He said: "Kumho was one of the first companies to recognise this and continually invests in the development of both aspects. It is therefore all the more rewarding to have our work recognised with such a prestigious award."
The company has been awarded a six month display at the Hanover Exhibition Centre and an online exhibition on the iF website for an indefinite period from March
