Last chance to enter bearings competition

The deadline for the Manus Plastic Plain Bearing Design Contest is the 31st August, 2006. Anyone using any brand of polymer bearings can enter by simply detailing how these have improved technical performance in a specific application.

Manus is designed to promote awareness of the benefits of polymer bearings to a wider audience of potential users and to highlight new and original ways of implementing plastic bearings. Design engineers using plastic bearings are urged to submit an application before the cut-off date. The application must be in production or at least a working prototype built to prove it is practical. Entries will be judged by a team that includes Professor John Hetherington, head of engineering at Cranfield University and Matthew Aldridge, bearings product director at igus UK. Cash prizes of £2,500, £1,000 and £500 will be awarded at an awards evening on 21st September at Highgate House in Northamptonshire. To enter online, visit www.manus-igus.co.uk. Alternatively, to request an application form, ring Nikki Groom on 01604 677240 or e-mail ngroom@igus.co.uk. The competition for innovative and challenging plastic plain bearing applications is running for the second time in the UK and Eire this year. The first time was in 2004
