Lola-Drayson technical partners announced
British racing car manufacturer Lola Cars and clean tech firm Drayson Racing have revealed the technical partners for the Lola-Drayson all electric sports car project, which aims to realise the fastest electric powered race car to ever lap a circuit.
The Lola-Drayson B12/69EV is expected to showcase technology such as inductive charging, composite battery power, moveable aerodynamics and electrical regenerative damping.
The companies signing on as official partners to the project include BAE Systems, Multimatic, Halo IPT and Cosworth. Oxford YASA Motors, Mavizen A123, Rinehart Motion Systems and Warwick University have signed on as official suppliers.
BAE Systems will provide new structural composite battery technology for the car, while Cosworth is due to supply the electronic control systems. Electrical regenerative dampers are being supplied by Multimatic, while Halo IPT is providing the car with wireless charging technology.
"Cutting edge innovation with an emphasis on sustainable and clean power are the key elements of the Lola-Drayson B12/69EV all electric LMP demonstrator," said Lord Paul Drayson. "Everyone involved in the project is committed to combining ultra high performance with ground breaking innovation and the development of new green technologies."
The Lola-Drayson is expected to be showcased during the last quarter of this year at a public test session. It will also compete at the FIA electric car championship in 2013.
