IGNITE is the National Space Centre’s Community Engagement programme with a mission to get people excited about space and help develop the next generation of scientists and engineers by providing new opportunities to young people in Leicester who may not otherwise have the means to embark on pathways to school, college and university courses.
Chas Bishop, chief executive of the National Space Centre, said: “This programme will give wonderful opportunities for young people in Leicester to enjoy exciting activities that will boost their confidence in a broad range of topics and help guide them onto new life pathways.”
Nylacast manufactures safety critical engineering components developed from advanced engineering materials and used in industries from automotive, marine and energy, through to pharmaceutical, defence and construction equipment.With their World Headquarters located in Leicester the firm is committed to nurturing and retaining local talent in the city.

Taking on eight to 10 apprentices per year, Nylacast’s in-house Engineering Training Academy has developed over 40 students into fully qualified engineers.The Academy also spends thousands of hours per annum up-skilling team members, providing opportunities for students and frequently visiting and hosting schools, colleges and universities to promote careers in science and engineering.
