New sterile seal perfect for pharmaceutical use

A new pump seal for hygiene-critical applications, designed for continuous production runs and to keep expensive downtime to a minimum, actually eliminates contamination traps in a way quite unlike any other seal.
The new seal, the Saflex H from John Crane, has a unique ultra-clean profile and cartridge design. The roll-formed bellows core has a twin-ply design, which further enhances cleanliness and ensures maximum compatibility with different applications. These bellows enclose the main shrunk-fit seal face and this eliminates the need for the traditional O-rings or other additional components that often become contaminant traps.
Particularly suitable for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, the seal can be sterilised and cleaned-in-place which speeds changes between production runs. The seal is designed to FDA standards and is available in sizes compatible with most key industry rotating equipment. It can handle pressures from vacuum up to 16 bar and it comes in carbon, silicon carbide and silicon carbide/graphite composite materials.
