For manufacturing companies looking to take advantage of technology developments by moving from 2D to 3D CAD systems, specialist training firm and authorised Autodesk trainer Smallpeice Enterprises, has just launched a new public training programme aimed at making this transition far more rapid and effective. The new course, ‘Integrated 3D Design’, will introduce design engineers and managers to 3D design using AutoCad, Mechanical Desktop and Inventor software packages. Ian Ward, Smallpeice’s lead trainer for CAD, explains: “We’ve come across many designers and managers who are simply unaware of the differences between the various Autodesk products when it comes to 3D design. In some cases this has led to companies installing just one of the 3D packages when a combination of systems might have better suited their needs. This new course will therefore also provide those companies who plan to move into 3D, but have not yet purchased a system, the ideal opportunity to evaluate the different AutoCad packages and so better determine their design software requirements.” The courses will be held at Leamington Spa four times during the year: 17-20th February; 6-9th May; 7-10th July; and 11-14th November. Smallpeice is also running a 2-day public course on ‘Applying Geometric Tolerancing in AutoCad’. This is aimed at providing designers with the core draughting skills that are essential for ensuring CAD designs meet industry standards. For more information go to www.smallpeice.co.uk
