Phytolon produces natural food colours using precision fermentation through proprietary yeast strains. The natural colours are a sustainable and cost-efficient substitution to synthetic food dyes without any loss of colour, according to Phytolon.
Colours the company has produced include purple, pink, red, orange and yellow.
Additional investors included food innovation community EIT-Food and venture capital firm Arkin Holdings. The funding will be used to commercialise its solutions.
