Rapid machining service offers parts in 24 hours
igus UK has launched a new rapid machining service that enables custom designed components to be manufactured and delivered within 24 hours.
The speedicut service requires engineers to send in their designs via email (these can be a 2D, 3D or CAD drawing), specifying material requirements such as temperature or chemical resistance. A quote is then sent within 24 hours.
As there are no minimum order quantities, igus says the service is particularly suited to specifying one offs, prototypes and low volumes of components used in applications such as medical technology, custom machine fabrication, maintenance engineering and plant engineering.
"speedicut is an exciting new machining service which has been introduced to complement our speedigus rapid tooling system, for parts that are more suited to machining than moulding," said Matthew Aldridge, director of igus UK. "For very low quantities it makes economic sense to machine parts in preference to moulding, and using our standard igus stock bar materials, along with a hi-tech machining cell, custom designed complex parts can be produced very quickly."
igus will be exhibiting the latest additions to its range of chainflex continuous-flex cables, as well its maintenance-free series of linear guides and plain, spherical and linear bearings, at this year's Engineering Design Show.
Visitors to Stand B10 will be able to meet the linear drive and cable experts to learn how to optimise processes and reduce costs through innovative use of plastic components.
