Roller bearings cut frictional torque by 50%
Extending its X-life family, Schaeffler has introduced a new tapered roller bearing which it says reduces frictional torque by up to 50%.
Available in sizes up to 635mm, the bearing also offers a 20% improvement in dynamic load rating and minimum 70% improvement in basic rating life.
Target applications include wind turbines, tractors and construction machinery.
Schaeffler says the bearings offer high reliability and minimise friction, particularly in high load applications and those that require rotational accuracy.
They can also withstand high loads during start-up and offer high resistance to solid contaminants, as well as a high operating temperature.
This, according to Scaheffler, enables maintenance intervals to be extended and results in the bearing operating at reduced noise levels.
