Sensirion unveils new range of humidity and temperature sensors
Sensirion has announced the SHT1x series of surface mountable relative humidity and temperature sensors.
The SHT10, SHT11 and SHT15 devices combine sensor elements and signal processing to provide a fully calibrated digital output. The implemented applied CMOSens technology is said to guarantee excellent reliability and long-term stability.
A capacitive sensor element has been implemented to measure relative humidity, while temperature is measured by a band-gap sensor. Both sensors are coupled to a 14bit analogue to digital converter and a serial interface circuit. This, according to the company, results in superior signal quality, a fast response time and insensitivity to external disturbances.
Each SHT1x is individually calibrated in a precision humidity chamber. The calibration coefficients are programmed into an OTP memory on the chip. These coefficients are used to internally calibrate the signals from the sensors. The two-wire serial interface and internal voltage regulation is said to allow for easy and fast system integration.
