“The integration of our solutions gives Parasolid developers access to comprehensive data import-export technology, while this new agreement enables us to offer the combined solution through a single offering,” said Jim Rusk, senior vice president of Siemens PLM Software. “Many of our Parasolid customers require advanced data translation capabilities. Our ability to offer one stop shopping for this integrated solution simplifies the buying process and is a win for Siemens and our customers.”
Development teams who license the integrated technologies together are said to benefit from optimisations, including: models of any supported format load into Parasolid through a single API; engineering applications that leverage Parasolid and HOOPS Exchange together can have geometry natively imported without any kind of translation, so data remains unspoiled.
For applications not based on Parasolid, the integration uses advanced functionality to map the CAD data format to a valid Parasolid model, for resolution of issues such as inconsistent tolerances, sliver faces and geometric discontinuities.
