TATA invests in automotive R&D centre
TATA Motors has made a £30million investment in a multi-million automotive R&D centre being built at the University of Warwick.
Announced in September this year by Jaguar Land Rover, the £100m National Automotive Innovation Campus (NAIC) is aimed at creating a large scale collaborative research environment, bringing together academics from the some of the UK's leading universities with engineers from JLR and its supply chain.
Dr Tim Leverton, head of advanced engineering and product development for Tata Motors, said: "This investment constitutes the next step in Tata Motors' strategy to develop world class products for its global customers and TMETC plays a significant role in that plan.
"Our teams in India and in the UK complement each other in academic excellence and product experience, and we see the UK as a global hub for innovative and low carbon automotive technologies, which will benefit our customers."
Construction on the new facility is due to being in September 2014, with completion slated for 2016.
