The world’s smallest hollow shaft servo actuator
Precision manufacturer, Harmonic Drive, has developed a range of miniature hollow-shaft servo actuators.
Developed specifically for use in the medical industry, typical applications will include pick and place mechanisms used in laboratories and precision machine tools and automation equipment used in the manufacture or operation of medical devices.
A specially developed cross roller output bearing provides superior resistance to axial and radial leads, and to high tilting moments, with a TTL encoder being mounted directly onto the motor shaft to provide precise feedback data, to within 1.6 arc seconds.
Harmonic Drive uses proprietary technology to eliminate the effects of backlash, while the integrated AC servomotors provide exceptionally smooth torque curves, with output speeds between 60 and 200 rpm.
The device will be particularly effective in areas where space is limited, but highly accurate motion control remains a necessity. The 50mm3 and 0.4kg actuators are capable of delivering 1.8Nm of torque from an integrated AC motor, gearbox and encoder. Additional features include a choice of gear reduction ratios, including a 30:1 ratio, the first of this kind to be used with hollow shaft actuators.
Each mini servo actuator is designed to interface directly with all industry standard servo controllers. Alternatively, Harmonic Drive supplies a fully digital SC-610 servo controller, which features Windows compatible software to allow each unit to be configured and operated quickly and simply.
