Today is a day to improve quality
Today is one of the days this week when those concerned with product quality, whether achieved through improved design or production, should be making a particular effort to improve or at least maintain performance.
World Quality Day was introduced by the United Nations in 1990 to increase worldwide awareness of the important contribution that quality makes towards a nation's and an organisation's growth and prosperity.
This week, November 8th to 12th, the Chartered Quality Institute is organising a series of lectures and seminars across the Uk aimed at improving quality and counteracting any temptations to reduce quality and control of quality in order to reduce costs.
Last night, Steven Pettifer, in his capacity as secretary of the local branch, hosted a meeting at BAE Systems in Rochester, Kent in order to pursue this aim, amid concerns expressed by those present that companies and organisations they worked for or worked with were in danger of sacrificing some of this vital capability.
The Chartered Quality Institute defines Quality management as an organisation-wide approach to understanding precisely what customers need and consistently delivering accurate solutions within budget, on time and with the minimum loss to society.
