Bionic composite to be launched at open meeting

A novel material with the same ballistic performance but half the mass of GFRP composites is to be discussed at an open meeting in Rotherham on Friday May 25th 2007.

Thomas JP Morgan, a consultant with Oxford Innovation and Technology Translator for the Materials KTN - Transport writes: "We are holding an open meeting to explore, identify and build 'application development' projects for this material. These projects will then be supported in applying for development funding from the DTI/MOD 2007 Lightweight Materials and Structures competition (deadline for registering intention to apply is 11th June). "The projects need the support of industrial partners & sponsors and will be formalised through joint-venture type arrangements in the technology to ensure downstream reward if the activity leads to successful commercialisation. "The open meeting will be held at 10:30, Friday 25th May at the Innovation Technology Centre, Advanced Manufacturing Park, Catcliffe, Rotherham, S60 5WG."
