The Technology Strategy Board, The Northern Way and the Department of Energy and Climate Change are co-hosting a one day workshop to help business access £15m of funding from their upcoming Carbon Abatement Technologies (CATs) competition to be launched in June 2009. This is funding that could help grow or diversify your existing business or help create new innovative market entrants. The competition is directly applicable to a range of industrial sectors and their supply chains including power generation, process industries (eg. metals, cement ), chemical industries and oil & gas. As well as large businesses, the competition will provide significant opportunities for SMEs and researchers wishing to apply and develop their expertise in this emerging technology area. The workshop will have a strong business led focus and we are keen to engage with the full supply chain from technology providers to end-users. In particular, the meeting is targeting organisations who: * are large emitters of CO2 and interested in its reduction * are currently involved in the R&D of CATs or their application * see opportunities for their technologies within an evolving CAT market * are potential new entrants to the market with innovative solutions * have feasibility studies they would like to conduct in the area We therefore welcome attendance from large, medium and small businesses, RTOs and academics. This will include large industry producers of CO2, original equipment manufacturers, component manufacturers, materials producers, developers of underpinning technologies such as manufacturing, control systems, materials, NDE, instrumentation, condition monitoring, etc. in addition to organisations interested in the transport, storage and use of CO2.
