Available through ABSSAC, the Servometer electroformed product offers lightweight construction, extreme temperature capability and small sizes that simply cannot be achieved by machining. By pushing the boundaries of the product over the past 50 years the Servometer product has been utilised in numerous industries and applications. Assemblies have been successfully used on the Space Shuttles as well many more Aerospace, Medical, Semiconductor and Vacuum related industries.
The product uniqueness is focussed on how the parts are manufactured. Electrodeposited products are formed by machining a precision mandrel to the shape of the desired form and then depositing the correct thickness of quality metal (normally a Nickle alloy) on to the mandrel. The mandrel is then dissolved away leaving the precision finished product behind. Uniquely, the controlled electroforming process, can be utilised to vary the material wall thickness in different places on the same part for selective rigidity and flexibility. This allows uniquely shaped hollow parts with walls as thin as 0.012 mm for miniature applications to be delivered. Additionally the possibility of bimetallic structures is well within the scope of supply, as is the use of an electron beam welder for accurately pressure sealed (volumetric) assemblies to be delivered.
One area of the program that is leading the way in innovation is the utilisation of the electrodeposited process using Gold as the material, which has allowed some remarkable properties of the material to be exploited.
Properties such as the material is the most non-reactive of all metals and is benign in all natural and industrial environments. Additionally, Gold does not react with oxygen, which means it will not oxidize or tarnish ensuring longevity and application usage over long periods of time. Gold is one of the most electrically conductive of all metals and is able to convey even a tiny electrical current in temperatures varying from -55° to +200° centigrade. The material is also the most reflective and least absorptive material of infrared (or heat) energy, with high purity gold reflecting up to 99% of infrared rays but is it also an excellent conductor of thermal energy or heat. When you add up all these wide scope of material and available production techniques for the product, the application possibilities are endless.
