Torque Screwdrivers play a critical role in areas such as the aerospace, energy, medical and automotive industries, where they are used to precisely tighten fasteners and fixings. This ensures the correct clamp load for the joint in question.
Torque control and calibration experts Advanced Witness Systems Ltd are about to release their new compact, bench top Universal Torque Screwdriver Calibration Machine (UTSCM) at the end of Q1. This has been designed to calibrate the widest range of screwdrivers on the market to the new torque standard. Significant research has been carried out into the size, shape and torque values of all major manufacturers of torque screwdrivers. This has led us to use additive manufacturing technology for quick manufacture of custom, tight fitting adaptors to fit the many variations of handle shapes of torque screwdrivers. This system keeps the screwdriver within ±2° of vertical, an important part of the standard.
With a high quality LCD display, precision instrumentation, processor controller and stepper motor drive, the AWS UTSCM machine performs the precision control of speed as required by the standard. With the AWS Intelligent Inline series of transducers (IITT) the UTWCM is a fully integrated calibration package. Other manufacturer’s transducers may be used with our Intelligent Instrumented Transducer Cables (IITC). With the ability to easily connect to the ADMS Kepler 4 Calibration and Conformity Software for ISO 6789:2017 (Sold Separately) calibrating torque screwdrivers to the new standard has never been faster or simpler.
The UTWCM and Kepler 4 software will be on display at the AWS stand (No.3) at Engineering Solutions Live, March 12th 2020 where we will be happy to answer any questions.
