New from the miniature motor technology specialists Portescap, and available from UK motion control component and systems supplier Mclennan, the 16ECH brushless slotless motor has been designed specifically to provide an economic motor solution for high performance applications. The 16 mm diameter motor, available in lengths of 36 and 52 mm, is one of the most advanced and highest performing brushless motors in its class with continuous torque up to 13 mNm maximised at between 40k to 55k rpm.
The 16ECH features an enhanced high-efficiency magnetic circuit, significantly reducing iron and recirculation losses which are primary causes for motor stator heating. The new patented EC motor coil also achieves higher available torque and mechanical power compared to similar brushless motors. The result is the new 16ECH stays cooler and offers greater power density than equivalent models within its target operating zone.
The 16ECH is a great match for low speed, high torque end applications, or applications in the medium speed range (30k to 55k rpm) and a good choice for geared applications because of its minimal speed drop and low motor heating under load. Additionally, the 16ECH's efficiency, power density and long life make it an excellent alternative for a brush DC motor solution. The low inertia design also makes it an exceptional option for applications requiring fast stopping, starting and acceleration.
The 16ECH is available with hall sensors and 3 different coils to match the optimal application speed and voltage and on request customisation options include integral gearboxes, encoders, sensorless versions, coil variations, and mechanical interface modifications.
