Powerful calculation software for rolling and linear bearings
Schaeffler has developed a number of different bearing calculation tools for rolling bearings, linear guidance systems, spindles, ballscrews and shafts. The software tools are permanently available via the Internet.
Schaeffler has developed a number of different software programmes to help design engineers calculate and select the most appropriate bearings for their application.
The first of these, BEARINX-online Easy Linear, is a software module for Schaeffler's popular rolling bearing calculation software Bearinx.
BEARINX-online Easy Linear calculates the basic rating life of a driven linear axis that is supported by rolling bearings. The software is easy-to-use with an intuitive menu system that provides clear instructions on how to input data. The software contains the most commonly used linear axis combinations in pre-configured arrangements comprising a drive, guideway and carriage. There is also an option to freely select an axis combination using up to four guideways and 16 carriages.
Designers are able to calculate and select the most appropriate linear guidance system at an early stage in their design process. The software simulates the actual stresses and loads on the guidance elements, taking contact angle displacement into account, as well as the non-linear deflection behaviour of the rolling element contacts and the elastic guideway and carriage. Exact calculations for the internal load distribution in the bearing are performed, including contact pressure with the actual rolling element profile and various pre-load classes. This enables users to minimise development times for new machine builds.
BEARINX-online Easy Linear is available exclusively online and can be used free of charge without restrictions. To register, go to http://bearinx-online-easy-linear.schaeffler.com/
Another software tool from Schaeffler is BEARINX-online Easy Friction – an online friction calculation tool for rolling bearings.
This software enables users to minimise friction and optimise the energy efficiency of power transmission systems that utilise rolling bearings. Users can register for the software at http://BEARINX-online-easy-friction.schaeffler.com
Used early in the design process, BEARINX-online Easy Friction helps users to identify and maximise the potential for energy efficiency savings within a machine or system. For example, after using the software, the user may decide to specify rolling bearings with reduced friction characteristics, or to downsize the bearings and/or other related system components. The software takes into account the internal load distribution of the bearing and contact pressures on the raceways and ribs, with the actual rolling element profiles. The software utilises a friction calculation theory based on physical algorithms confirmed by a series of comprehensive values from tests on rolling bearings.
Other software tools available from Schaeffler include BEARINX modules for shaft calculations, spindles and ballscrews.
