tesa High Performance Double Sided Tapes
tesa is a leading global manufacturer of adhesive tape investing 5% of our turnover in R&D. Half of our sales are from products developed in the last 5 years and over 250 people are employed in tesa's laboratories around the world filing an average of 70 patents filed a year.
Tapes with pure acrylic adhesives offer long term performance in tough outdoor applications, for example, automotive badges and trims. Those tapes with tackified acrylic adhesives have a higher initial bond strength and offer design gap compensation and excellent dampening properties, ideal for applications where shock absorption is a consideration. All tapes feature either closed-cell PE or PE-EVA foam carriers, with the thinnest tapes in the range of 300µm and 400µm also featuring a reinforcement film of PET making these tapes especially ideal for die-cutting and converting processes. Approvals held by tapes within this assortment include TÜV Rheinland for bonding of aluminium, glass and Tedlar® in solar modules.
Double sided tapes for all industries
A full and extensive range of double sided tapes means tesa® has a product for almost every application. These are available on standard 50m rolls or spool-wound format of up to 10,000m meaning fewer roll changes and improved efficiency of automatic processes. We can also supply and set-up special dispensers for these as well. Tapes with filmic carriers are ideal for bonding smooth surfaces and those with thin, PET carriers offer improved performance due to the higher adhesive coat-weight relative to the overall thickness of the tape. Other types of carrier are available, such as non-woven which is hand-tearable, cloth carriers offer high conformability to irregular and rough surfaces and transfer tapes (no carrier) ultimate conformability and relatively low thickness. Adhesives are acrylic – pure or tackified – for high performance applications, natural or synthetic rubber for those which are less demanding or internal. tesa develops and polymerises its acrylic adhesives and compounds its rubber adhesives meaning total control over the most important component of a tape.
