A fastener to ensure cleanliness

Solution: Marie-Luise Goetz, who lives in Stein, was so concerned to ensure thorough cleanliness, that she has devised a simple fastener to join hinge to seat, that could also find a host of non sanitary applications. As can be seen in our illustration, the 'Cleanclick' has a plastic element that expands outwards, when the cranked top of the bolt is rotated. The top of the plastic part is formed into a larger washer, so that the fastener rests at the correct position when dropped into place. A few turns of the top, and it locks into place. Similarly, a few turns in the opposite direction and a sharp tug at once removes the seat to allow thorough cleaning. First prototypes are available, patents are pending, and marketing of the idea is in the hands of a professional company. Applications: The device is suitable for any conventional toilet, and is considered especially suitable for use in hotels, military barracks and hospitals. It is, however, eminently suitable for any situation where something has to be firmly fastened, yet made easy to detach and replace, without loss of joint strength and integrity.
