Boxes retain cabling without fasteners
To securely install an electrical junction box or enclosure, an engineer often has to go through a number of costly and timely operations
Problem: . Various tools and fasteners are often required to fit the boxes, which for larger projects, is often a problem as circuit installation time is critical.
Solution: The new Q4 and Q12 series enclosures from Spelsberg els are designed to solve this problem by incorporating patented push-lock cable entries on the junction box. The tool-less system allows users to push a cable end through a moulded split in the enclosure sidewall instead of having to feed them through retaining bands or cable glands. When pushing them through the slit, knockouts are automatically removed and bevelled edges provide a hold secure enough to suspend enclosures by the cables without the need for tightening awkward fasteners or use of tools.
Offering access for up to 12, 3x1.5mm2 to 2.5mm2 strand NYM cables, the larger Q12 boxes are ideal for large projects where circuit installation is against the clock. Flexibility of mounting is also improved by using external lugs for easy fixing to cable routing tracks, trunking, square beams and poles using either cable ties or screws.
The models offer two standard lugs, which accommodate screws, and feature three knockouts in the base for installation on flat surfaces. The Q12 also has an innovative ‘Klickt’ click-top lid system which consists of extra ridges set into the box edge and adjoining lid surfaces to give faster and more secure location without the need for tools.
The smaller Q4 features a novel hinged lid that can be closed by hand and easily opened with a screw driver or by simply pushing down on its centre, reducing the time engineers spend on ladders.
Applications: Designed to fit three-pole terminals, and offering extended lugs with multiple attachment holes, the Q4 is ideal for lighting system applications where units are suspended on cabling. The Q12 is best suited to large circuit installation projects. DP
