Cam rollers and balls run on same rails

Bosch Rexroth has come out with a guide rail system that is compatible with carriages equipped with either cam rollers or recirculating balls

. Markus Hofstätter, director product management linear guides, said: “You can change from one to the other in the field, or use different rolling elements on the same guide rail.” The ‘eLine’ ball rail guides offer high load carrying capacities while the cam roller guides offer high speeds, up to 12m/s as well as low running friction and low noise. Both types of carriage include front seals, are lifetime lubricated and are said to be corrosion resistant. The ball carriages come with retained balls. Standard cam roller blocks have four cam rollers but there is also a short cam roller block available with only two cam rollers. The cam rollers can be provided either with centre spigots or eccentric spigots for preload adjustment. Ball rail blocks come in standard widths or “Slimline”. Rails are in one piece lengths up to 4m long which can be mounted from above or below. Dimensions are to DIN 645-1 and the systems come in size 15, 20 or 25.
