Miniature linear guides key to machine downsizing
For OEMs that need to downsize their products, bearings manufacturer NSK’s miniature precision linear guides are ideal.
Unlike conventional designs of linear guides, NSK’s PU Series guides incorporate resin recirculation circuits in the ball slider that allow gentler contact with the steel ball elements. This results in improved dynamic friction characteristics and smoother motion of the slider on the rail. Also, the elimination of metal-to-metal contact between the balls and the recirculation holes means that the guides generate less dust than conventional designs and, since the main cause of noise is reduced, is also much quieter during operation.
The 9, 12 and 15mm diameter rail width guides are made from stainless steel and are ideally suited to harsh, corrosive environments. The units have side seals to both faces of the ball slide and a labyrinth structure on the bottom face of the slider, to provide an underseal for the unit and protect it from ingress of dust. There is also an optional 'K1' lubrication unit, designed to provide consistent lubrication, extending maintenance-free periods, even under heavy loads and in the presence of contaminants. Maximum load capacities are 1,180N to 4,300N. DP
