Stainless motors ideal for wash-downs

A new range of metric all stainless steel electric motors has been announced by Marlin Stainless, all protected to IP66 and able to withstand high pressure wash-downs, even when employing chemical cleaning agents. Those from 0.18kW to 0.75kW, are Totally Enclosed Non Ventilated (TENV) while those from 1.1kW to 7.5kW are Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC). These markedly solid, chunky motors are further protected by NTN Blue double lip seals, originally designed for Canadian snowmobiles, plus GAMMA seals fitted on the shaft. The motor stator windings are hand wound, double vacuum and pressure impregnated and have phase insulation to make them more suitable for inverter control and for internal protection against moisture. The rotor windings are also varnished. To overcome condensation problems arising from exposure to temperature differences between inside and outside, all motors have four quadrant drain points in each end shield. Normally sealed by grub screws, each can accept a 'T' drain plug, so there can always be a drain plug at the lowest point of the motor. The motors are fully interchangeable with standard IEC motors. Available options include: a round terminal box, welded to the frame, stainless steel driven end bearings and 6 or 8 pole operation as an alternative to 2 and 4 pole. Motor details are etched on motor bodies instead of being on separate plates to eliminate the opportunity for dirt to be caught there. The motors are made in San Dona di Piave in Italy.
