Instead of having a CAD monitor sitting on top of a desk covered in papers, Flitedec is a concept where the screen and working area are integrated and in the same plane.
The workstation mounts a flat 17inch or 19 inch LCD monitor within the working surface which can be folded down to form a flat table, or inclined to suit the user. It thus allows documents to be clipped onto the same plane as the screen, so the user only has to glance from side to centre, instead of looking up at a screen and down to look for documents. The latter is much more tiring because it requires re-focussing the eyes, and for the older designer, may even require changing spectacles.
In addition to adjustable angle, the whole workstation can be raised and lowed at the touch of a button and works with a wireless keyboard. Desk versions are available whose fronts curve out or curve in according to preference, and there is also a choice of colours and work surfaces. The product is British made by Vistaplan in Daventry and priced at £2800 or £2900 according to monitor size.
