Large clutches keep their cool

The new AquaMaKKs range of water-cooled clutches and brakes from Wichita Clutch sets a new standard in heavy duty continuous slip tensioning applications, for use in demanding sectors such as mining, logging and forestry operations, metal processing and metal forming, oil and gas, water/wastewater and offshore/marine. The AquaMaKKs are air, hydraulic or spring-set actuated units, integrating non-metallic composite water jackets and superior heat-dissipating copper wear plates that are optimized for heavy-duty continuous slip tension applications. Available in sizes (friction lining O.D.) from 482mm (19") to 914mm (36"), the units provide up to 2535kW (3,400HP) of heat absorption, which is 35% higher than the most robust units previously constructed for heavy-duty applications.
