The compact size of the cartridge valves suits them for the use within block solutions. The valves do not have to be mounted completely on the blocks; instead, they can be integrated via 'plug and play'. This is said to save costs on materials and reduce the overall weight and size of the system or device.
In addition to the use as the 'core' of future Bürkert valve islands, the valve is also suitable for use in medical instruments, for example in dental technology applications or in oxygen control units such as in mechanical ventilation.
The life-cycle of the valve is claimed to extend to more than 100 million switching cycles. The switching times for opening and closing of the valve are around 10ms at a pressure of 1bar and a temperature of 20°C. The valve is available in orifice size from 0.5 to 1.2mm and with operating voltage of 12 and 24Vdc. The standard version covers the pressure range from -0.8 to 10bar with a power consumption of less than 0.7W. The valve body is made of PEEK and the seal of FKM.
