Splatter resistant connector
IFM Electronic has developed a connector that has a splatter resistant coating.
The aim is to allow sensors to be used in the vicinity of welds. If weld splatter lands on the coupling nut of the Ecolink EVW it can simply be brushed off - gone are the days when the sensor would be welded to the connector.
The cable is also torsion resistant, suitable for drag chains, halogen-free, silicone-free, and is fully recyclable.
The saw tooth locking mechanism of the vibration protection operates asymmetrically to ensure easy tightening of the connector and, at the same time, stronger locking. This obtains almost complete shock and vibration resistance which has been proven by tests with 1million impacts at 750g.
To ensure that the sealing ring is protected against excessive pressure from the coupling nut, the Ecolink EVW M12 socket has an outer ring stainless steel sleeve that serves as a seat for the sensor plug which can be fitted by hand.
Further improvement has been made in the versions with LED. Most LED connectors consist of a transparent plastic housing through which the LED light is visible. This has the disadvantage where there is sunlight or just bright light as the LED no longer contrasts with the clear transparent background.
Instead IFM Electronic uses black transparent plastic. Light transmission is extremely high so that the light is barely dimmed. The advantage is a very strong contrast between the LED colour and the black housing of the connector.
Operating temperature is between -25 and 90°C.
