Thermal imager identifies defects in injection-moulded parts
Precision sensor manufacturer Micro-Epsilon has developed an inline, non-contact temperature measurement solution for the quality control of injection moulding machines.
The thermoIMAGER TIM camera is designed to be installed in the injection moulding machine itself and uses the thermal radiation from the work piece to detect not only visual faults, but also hidden defects.
The device utilises operating software from Micro-Epsilon and control software from Kunststoff-Zentrum SKZ KTT, which works by visualising the work piece and comparing it to an infrared reference image.
As well as enabling users to control and automatically remove any defective parts, the thermoIMAGER is designed to ensure rapid and secure machine changeovers.
The device is powered and operated via a usb 2.0 interface and comes with a full software package that enables the user to configure all the parameters of the device, as well as enabling the real time capture and storage of images or video of an event for slow motion play back or snapshots at a later date.
