Fast and accurate extensometer

Imetrum utilises patented measurement technology in the fastest and most accurate non-contacting strain measurement device available commercially. Imetrum's system was tested at 500Hz to ISO 9513:2012, Class 0.2 by R&H Testing Services Ltd and received certification proving its accuracy and suitability.

ISO 9513:2012 specifies a method for the static calibration of extensometer systems used in uniaxial testing, including axial and diametral extensometer systems (both contacting and non-contacting). As Imetrum's system is non-contacting, this certification means that it can stand side by side with contacting systems, especially when testing small Gauge Length (GL) samples. This is relevant for companies that need to test special alloys and composite materials that have a low strain and can use small GLs.

Engineers are now able to test smaller samples (strain, rotation, displacement etc.) in real time, in a single test, using non-contact methods which were previously difficult to achieve. Imetrum's system is video based, a record of the test can be saved so engineers can post process the test or complete further analysis without repeating it.

Non-contact measurement systems, including video extensometers, are used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, defence, oil and gas, energy, R&D and high technology motorsport, where accurate measurements are critical to develop materials, components or sub-assembly.
