Sensing in colour

New colour sensor from IFM Electronic

The O5C500 colour sensor from IFM Electronic has been designed to differentiate shades of colour in the sorting and checking of different goods in automated industrial processes. It may also be used in paper and print industries, as well as packaging technology. The sensor is 50x50mm in size, operates on a 10 to 36V DC supply and incorporates the standard M12 connector. The technology has a switching frequency of 2,000 Hz, which IFM claim enables reliable detection of different objects in industrial processes. The setting has an electronic lock and the autodetect output stage automatically sets the switching output to PNP or NPN operation. A range of mounting accessories are also available, which have been designed to simplify fitting and alignment.
