Now in its fifth year and run by Eureka's stablemate The Engineer, C2I was established to uncover and celebrate the UK’s most innovative collaborative engineering projects. The competition is open to any innovative engineering project, whether from industry or academia, that represents a collaboration between two or more separate organisations and has had, or is likely to have, a demonstrable impact in its area of application. Entries are invited from projects addressing fundamental engineering challenges across nine categories including healthcare, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing technology, energy, defence, and data and connectivity.
Commenting on the launch of C2I 2020 Jon Excell, editor of The Engineer said: “Collaboration between groups of engineers and across disciplines is critical to solving some of the biggest challenges we face as a society and the C2I awards was set up to celebrate this. Myself and the C2I judging panel are really excited about seeing what fascinating projects and innovations this year’s competition uncovers.” This year’s competition also features a category specifically focussed on school student engineering projects: Young Innovator, which will celebrate the achievements of the next generation of engineers. The campaign is open to entries with immediate effect with a final submission deadline of Friday 10th July 2020.
An invited team of expert judges will then select winners in each category. These will be announced at an exclusive VIP reception in London, held to coincide with the Royal Academy of Engineering’s This is Engineering Day on Wednesday 4th November, 2020
