Drayson Racing sets its sights on EV land speed record
Drayson Racing is to make an attempt for the FIA World Electric Land Speed Record next month at RAF Elvington in Yorkshire.
Company founder Lord Paul Drayson will drive a special low-drag version of the B12 69/EV along Elvington's 1.86 mile runway on 25 June, in a bid to best the 175mph mark that was set back in 1974.
"We believe it's about time someone moved this record on to demonstrate just how far EV technology has come," Lord Drayson said.
"The reason we are doing this is to showcase the maximum level of EV performance at the moment. We are also demonstrating the future potential of technologies like wireless charging in speeding the adoption of high performance EVs."
