IMechE encourages engineers to gain industry registration

The IMechE has launched a new distance learning initiative to help its members become professionally registered.

Available to those with a Bachelor's level degree, the scheme is being run in collaboration with The Open University, Brunel University, Robert Gordon University and the University of Manchester. According to the IMechE, it will enable candidates to obtain a masters degree whilst still working and earning. Modules can be selected and completed remotely, so that participants can work towards becoming a chartered engineer at their own pace and in their own time. "Many members aspire to professional registration and chartership, but a number of obstacles – real and perceived – stand in their way," said James Hobbs, director of marketing and membership. "This initiative will ensure that members have access to academic learning modules which can support them to become chartered – regardless of their location in the world."
