Knowledge transfer pros get their own voice

The newly launched Institute of Knowledge Transfer is to offer professional accreditation, help with structured career progression and provide opportunities for continuing professional development for those engaged in knowledge transfer

. Membership is open to all those engaged in KT across universities, industry and public sector research organisations. President of the IKT Sir Brian Fender said: “Our aim is to give people working in knowledge transfer – whether in universities, public sector research organisations, business or independent research and technology organisations - better career opportunities, widespread recognition for the value of what they do and the opportunity to involve themselves in networking with clients and colleagues around the world.” The Institute describes itself as, “An independent, democratic and not-for-profit professional body, established to promote the interests of the profession and the practice of knowledge transfer”. Membership rates are £100 for Members and £75 for Associates. The Institute says that a 25% discount on the first year’s membership fee will be available to the first 500 members.
