Siemens PLM upgrades ST5 platform, launches new Microsoft Sharepoint app
Siemens PLM Software has upgraded its ST5 platform and launched a new Microsoft Sharepoint app aimed at helping Solid Edge users simplify design data management and reduce cost.
Featuring more than 1,300 productivity enhancements, Solid Edge ST5 is designed to offer more flexible ways to use synchronous technology, including enhanced support for multi-body modelling, which lets users import parts and assemblies from virtually any CAD system.
Other features include continued simplification of drawing documentation to increase productivity and lower shop floor errors, and steady-state thermal simulation to enable designers to test more alternatives in less time, A complementary 3D viewer mobile app for the iPad has also been launched to help companies enhance collaboration,
The Insight XT Microsoft Sharepoint app has been launched to help Solid Edge users simplify and speed the completion of every day design tasks by helping to better organise data and processes. According to the company, it adds new part, product and project structures that are required by manufacturing organisations but are not available in standard SharePoint document libraries.
