Improved Composites Recycling & Resource Efficiency in the East Midlands

The aim of the workshop will be to highlight the current state of the art in composites recycling and introduce composites companies in the East Midlands to relevant companies in the recycling supply chain. In addition, the issue of resource efficiency will be addressed, with a particular focus on reducing waste, cutting costs and decreasing the amount of scrap sent to landfill. Environmental issues relating to the manufacturing process will be examined, for example how energy can be saved and how waste can be reused, or even turned into another saleable product thus reducing overheads. Small changes can create higher sales and give a company a unique selling point. East Midlands Composites Network (EMCN) is co-hosting this workshop in collaboration with the MATREC project and Manufacturing Advisory Service – East Midlands. The MATREC project, funded through ERDF grant, is designed to support small to medium size companies within the East Midlands to reduce landfill and recover materials which are often discarded or not fully reclaimed.
