Sigmetrix has released a tolerance analysis extension for Pro/Engineer.
Said to be simpler to use than its CETol 6 sigma software, the new extension is described as a cost-effective solution for carrying out one-dimensional analysis and is available for the Wildfire 4.0 version.
Also released are SolidWorks V8.0 and Pro/Engineer V8.1. The former works directly on the SolidWorks model in 3D to calculate either a worst case or a statistical tolerance stack up. V8.1 for Pro/Engineer has a number of enhancements, including the ability to animate the effects of tolerance changes. It can provide flush and gap measurements and includes a model advisor to assist the modelling process.
“Unlike other tools in the industry that rely on slow Monte-Carlo analysis, CETol 6 sigma is built on 3D Variation Behaviour Modelling technology which has a fast direct solver and is fully integrated with Pro/Engineer, CatiaV5 and SolidWorks,” says Ray Ellender of vendor Elite Consulting.
