The “Talon” training aid uses a digital display unit that attaches to the top of any golf club, together with a separate wireless body back unit. The units work together to remove guesswork by calculating and clearly displaying four critical angles: spine angle, club shaft angle, club shaft to spine angle, and rotation angle of the club face.Golfers can view their stance and then adjust to their best position, improving muscle memory, consistency and performance.
The company wanted to turn their black box first stage prototype into a final design they turned to Amtech Rapid Prototyping to create their aesthetically pleasing high quality prototypes.
Matt Hulbert the Talon’s designer said “We have developed a revolutionary new training aid that gives you real-time visual feedback on your golf stance and angles of address, with Amtech Rapid Prototyping we were able to quickly produce high quality robust prototypes which we were able to test the fit and functionality”.
Based in NE England, Amtech Rapid Prototyping comprises of a team with impressive experience in the rapid prototyping industry. Their services include all types of prototype production, including 3D printing, painting, model making and vacuum casting.
Firstly high detail SLA prototypes were 3D printed to check fit and feel.Once these were proved to be the desired form, painted masters were produced and silicone tooling created from them. From these silicone tools we were able to produce vacuum cast in Poly-Urethane in a representative material to match injection mouldings. The outer bezels were given a chrome finish with candy chrome in green and blue giving Matt any ideas for future special editions.
